Pre-School

writingThe pre-school rooms provide a positive approach to structured learning, and plenty of opportunities for children to learn through play.

We offer a full range of activities to support a child's overall needs and development, and use the opportunities of the entire nursery day, in order to encourage each child's individuality.

Our pre-school curriculum is planned in compliance with 'The Foundation Stage', as set out by Ofsted. 'The Foundation Stage' is the first stage of the National Curriculum, focusing on children from age three to the end of the reception year in Primary School. The Foundation Stage has six learning areas.

They are as follows:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

Each learning area has Early Learning Goals (ELG's) It is hoped that children will reach or exceed these by the end of the Foundation Stage.

'Stepping Stones' help children to progress towards these goals. Children, of course, will progress individually and will achieve goals at their own pace. However, staff understand this, and take this into account when planning activities and experiences.

We have an extensive range of quality educational equipment, which has been chosen with care, to be used as learning tools for guiding children through 'The Foundation Stage'.

In the world of young children, every sight, sound and experience is a valuable learning tool. With this in mind, all children will enjoy imaginative and creative age-related learning experiences such as arts, crafts, cookery, music, computer studies and dramatic play, all of which encourage the development of independence and self-confidence. We also have an extensive range of outdoor activities to be enjoyed.

We at Jelly Beans only use the highest quality toys and equipment in all our activities.
